Setup guide

1. Install

Sign in with Discord on this site and buy a license; your account page then shows the download (ASATribeLogBot-Setup.exe) and your key. Run the installer — it installs per-user (no admin rights). Windows SmartScreen may warn because the installer is new: click More info → Run anyway.

On first start press Log in with Discord — the app finds the license tied to your Discord account, no key to type. (Pasting the key works too.) The app updates itself from then on.

2. Game settings

  • Window mode: Windowed Fullscreen (borderless). Not exclusive fullscreen.
  • HUD scale: 100%. Default gamma.
  • Low graphics and a 15–30 fps cap are fine — the bot only reads text.
  • Open the Tribe Manager (default key L) → LOG tab. Leave it open.
  • Disable screen sleep / lock. Other windows can cover the game; just never minimize it.

3. Discord webhook

A webhook is a link that lets the app post into one channel. In Discord: right-click the channel → Edit Channel → Integrations → Webhooks → New Webhook → Copy Webhook URL. Paste it into Setup step 2 and press Test. Treat the link like a password.

4. Select the log area

Bring the game to the front, press Select tribe log area…. The screen dims; drag a box around only the log text in the middle column (not the member list, not the headers). A preview opens showing each line the bot can read — lines should start with Day 123, 12:34:56:. Zero lines? Draw a tighter or taller box.

5. Start

Press Start. The Dashboard shows five status tiles; all green means it's working. Lines already on screen are not posted (avoid a flood); only new ones. Tick Start automatically and Open when Windows starts so it survives reboots.

Alerts: @mentions and siren

Tribe Log tab → Ping people: paste <@USER_ID>, <@&ROLE_ID> or @here (Discord → Settings → Advanced → Developer Mode to copy IDs). Set the rule, e.g. when at least 3 Kill/Death/Sensor events within 5 minutes. The siren needs the optional Discord bot (below) and a voice channel ID.

Alert channel

Tick the → alert channel column for serious events and paste a second webhook (e.g. #raid-alerts). Everything else keeps going to the log channel.

Optional: Discord bot (commands + siren)

  1. discord.com/developers → New Application → Bot → Reset Token → copy into the Discord Bot tab.
  2. OAuth2 → URL Generator → scopes bot + applications.commands; permissions Send Messages, Attach Files, Connect, Speak → open the URL and add it to your server.
  3. Paste your server ID (Developer Mode → right-click server → Copy ID) so slash commands show up instantly; a voice channel ID for the siren.

Commands: /logbot mute [minutes], unmute, soundon, soundoff, siren, status, screenshot, global <text>, tribe <text>, /baby, /tekgen, /forcefield.

Optional: auto-reconnect

Auto-Reconnect tab → tick Allow game input and Auto reconnect. Capture each button once while it is on screen (Host Time Out OK, Joining Failed OK, Join Ark, Join Last Played, the LOG tab). Use Test: which pictures are on screen now? on each menu to confirm matches. To validate end to end: close the game with Alt+F4 and watch the Log tab.

Troubleshooting

  • "game window not found" — ARK isn't running, or the process name differs (Extras → App settings).
  • "game is minimized" — restore the window; it can stay behind other windows.
  • Preview reads 0 lines — LOG tab open? Box tight around the text? HUD scale 100%?
  • Duplicate posts — lower match threshold in the config; missed events — raise it.
  • Nothing posts but status is green — check the channel's webhook still exists; press Send test post.
  • Logs: Log tab → Open log file. Send it to support on Discord.

FAQ

▸Does it work on official PvP servers?

Yes — official PvP, Small Tribes, PvE and unofficial servers alike. Official servers don't offer any API or webhook for tribe logs, so the bot reads the Tribe Log panel inside your running game client and posts what it sees. It needs a character logged in with the Tribe Log open.

▸How do I get the download?

The installer link comes with your license key right after purchase (email and the customer area). It is not distributed publicly.

▸Is it safe to use? Will I get banned?

By default the bot only captures the screen — it never injects anything into the game and never sends input. The optional auto-reconnect and chat-send features press keys like a macro would; they're off until you turn them on and are at your own risk under the game's rules.

▸Can I use my PC while it runs?

Yes. The bot captures the game window directly, so your browser, Discord or work can be in front of it. The one rule: don't minimize the game, because Windows stops drawing minimized windows. A second monitor or a $5 HDMI dummy plug makes it completely invisible.

▸Do I need a Discord bot?

No — a webhook is enough for all posting. A Discord bot (free, 5 minutes to create) is only needed for slash commands and the voice-channel siren.

▸How many PCs can I use?

One PC per license, locked to that PC's hardware. You can release it from inside the app and activate a different PC any time — a second PC running at the same time needs a second license.

▸What does it cost to run?

Nothing beyond the license. It runs on the PC that has the game open; a low-end PC at low settings and 15 fps is plenty.

▸Which resolutions are supported?

Any. You select the log area yourself and the bot reads it with OCR; 1080p and up give the cleanest text.

▸Does it work with Epic / Xbox / Windows Store versions?

Yes — on PC it reads the game window regardless of store (Steam, Epic, Windows/Xbox app). Auto-reconnect has a platform switch for the launch command.

▸Does it work on Xbox or PlayStation consoles?

Yes — this is the only ARK tribe log bot that reads consoles. There's no console software; instead you run the console's HDMI into an inexpensive USB capture card (the kind streamers use, ~$15–40) plugged into any Windows PC, then pick that device in the app and drag a box around the Tribe Log. Everything else — Discord posts, alerts, siren, @mentions — works exactly the same. You can also read an Xbox/PS Remote Play window on the PC with no capture card at all.

▸What are all the ways it can read the log?

Five, all feeding the same reader: (1) the ARK window on the PC it runs on; (2) a Discord stream — a tribemate Go-Lives the game and the app reads that stream window, so the bot PC needs no ARK, console or capture card; (3) an Xbox/PS Remote Play window; (4) a console through a USB capture card; (5) the whole screen as a last resort. You pick the source in the app; each one shows its own short instructions.

▸Can I read the log from a Discord stream?

Yes. Have someone stream ARK in a Discord voice channel (Go Live), open that stream on the PC running the app, Pop it Out into its own window, and choose the 'Discord stream' source. The bot reads the log from the stream and posts to your server — no game, console or capture card needed on the bot's PC. Higher stream resolution reads more reliably.
